Nugent is a minor antagonist in the 2006 film, Over the Hedge. He is a Rottweiler who loves to play.
He is voiced by Brian Stepanek (who also voiced Lynn Loud Sr. in the Loud House) while his vocal sound effects are provided by Frank Welker.
Over the Hedge[]
Nugent is first seen coming out of his doghouse after hearing one of his squeaky toys, Then he chases RJ, and Verne through the neighborhood, and crash through fences, and cause a mess. Nugent was defeated when RJ told Verne to unhook the chain. Nugent wasn't seen again until the end where he bite Dwayne LaFontant.
Personality[]
Not much about Nugent's personality other than he is playful, and energetic. However, in some books based on the film, Nugent is angry, and aggressive.
Appearance[]
Nugent is a black rottweiler with dark brown eyes.
Trivia[]
- Other than barking, Nugent can only say play.
- Nugent is not actually a villain since he's a innocent dog who wants to play, and have fun with others. However, he is viewed as a threat to RJ, and Verne.
- According to the film commentary, Nugent was originally going to be a angry, and aggressive dog but it was too scary for young viewers so they made him a playful dog.[1] This was kept in some books based on the film.
- In some scene where Nugent chases RJ, Nugent looks angry rather than happy. It's possible that Nugent was pretending to want to play so he can make the wild animals go away.
- Nugent is similar to the Seagulls from Finding Nemo since they both only said one word, and they both chase the protagonists (RJ, and Marlin)
- In the film, there are dog barks in the background. It's possible that dog bark came from either Nugent or a another dog.
- In the game based on the film, there is a Rottweiler in the Maintenance Room similar to Nugent, and unlike him, it spoke normal, and it's aggressive. It's possible that he chases RJ, Verne, Hammy, and Stella because he was mad about them getting away when he wants to play.
