Venger is the main villain of the Dungeons and Dragons TV cartoon.

Background[]

In the mythical/magic Realm the main villain is Venger.  Nearly 7 to 8 feet tall he is a wizard who wishes to take over the entire Realm and rule it. He rides his faithful black hell-horse known as the Nightmare.  His main antagonist is Dungeonmaster an older wizard who is also his father. Venger has been trying to rule the Realm for 1,000 years... His master whom even he fears is an evil entity known only as He Whose Name Cannot be Said[The Dungeon at the Heart of Dawn]. Two things which Venger fears especially are Tiamatt the five headed Queen of the Dragons [Hall of Bones and The Dragons Graveyard] and red heart stones [The Traitor].  Especially annoying to Venger besides Dungeonmaster are the following:

Karena is his younger sister and a rival in evil.  She is redeemed to goodness by Shelia [Citadel of Shadow]

Six of Dungeonmasters pupils...6 friends from Earth ages 8 to 15  who went on a Dungeons and Dragons amusement ride and were literally flipped into the Realm. They are:

Hank aka the Ranger. Age 15 He has a magic power bow along with the double responibilty of trying to get his friends back home and combatting evil-his deepest fear is failure to be a leader.  Two mistakes he makes as a leader is making a "deal" with Venger to save Bobbi life [The traitor} and giving Eric permission to open the box of Balefire {"The Dungeon at the Heart of Dawn"]. As the leader Hank is forced to make difficult decisions-in "The Box" when the kids finally get home to the "real world" Hank has to lead them Back to the Realm in order to save Earth from Venger; In "The dragons graveyard" it was Hank who had to make the moral choice of weather or not to to give in to his frustrated anger and rage and kill Venger; In {The Girl who saw Tommorow} when the Kids are trapped in Vangers Maze of Darkness which nearly drives them insane, it was Hank who managed to rescue them at the last second. Of all the kids, Venger regards the Ranger as his most personal enemy. {The Dungeon at the Heart of Dawn]

Eric the Cavelier. Age 15.He has a magic shield that can repeal magic bolts and organic properties.  On the surface a spolied rich kid,,,he actually has a hidden heroic side..in which he will sacrifice anything..even his life..to make sure his friends get home [Day of the Dungeonmaster]. His deepest fear is ridicule. [Quest of the Skelaton warrior]

Diane the Acrobat. Age 14, With a magic staff she can disarm and fight oppoents bigger and stronger than herself.  Her soulmate is Kosar...whom she was forced to give up to save a community {Child of the Stargazer] Her hidden fear is becoming old and weak. [Quest of the Skelaton Warrior]

Presto the Magican. Age 14 With a magic hat he can conjure up anything...with Eric he is the comic relief part..since usally his hat usually misenterpets his bumbled instructions..although when he can focus...he can actually do magic quiite well. {"The dragons graveyard"] His soulmate is the illusion female Varla. His hidden fear is losing his glases. Ironically Presto and Dragons figure in both the first episode {"Night of No Tommorrow"} and last episode "Cave of the Fairie Dragons" {Note in syndication the Cave of the Faire Dragons is usually shown as the second to last episode before "The Winds of Darkness" According to a D & D cartoon episode schedule Winds of Darkness is actually the 2nd to last episode}

Shelia the Thief, Age 13  She has an invisibilty cloak an doubly  ironic item since her name in irish means Blind  and when her cloak is used she cant be seen..and she suffers from Monophobia  [The Fear of Being Alone] {Quest of the skelaton warrior].  In Garden of Zinn she politely declines an offer to become a Queen; In Citadel of Shadow it was her good heart that helped redeem Karena from Evil.  When she thought Hank had betrayed them [The Traitor] she was the one who was hurt the most...as she was in love with him. It was Shelia who defeated Venger when to save Karena from being killed  she used 2 magic rings against him-one immoblized him and the other imprisoned him [Citadel of Shadow] {This was also Vengers last appearence in the series}

Bobbi the Barbarian. Aged 8 when he came to the Realm he has a birthday [Servant of Evil] which was his 9th [The Lost children]. He was redressed as a Barbarian/Viking. His totem is a magic club with which he can shatter anything.  His hidden fear is being treated as a baby.  His soulmate is the claravient earth girl Terri who Bobbi had to make a heartbreaking choice of giving her up in order to save her from Venger [The Girl who dreamed Tommorrow]. Of all the Kids he has the Deepest anger and Hatred toward Venger who tries to hurt those he carres about most-Uni, Shelia and Terri

Uni..a female baby Unicorn who Bobbi adopted  when it was feeing from Tiamat. A comic relief animial whose unintelligable words echo Bobbi saccastic comments. She can teleport herself over distances like all Uniocorns although she lacks experience to do so on a regular basis [Valley of the Unicorns].  On one occasion she actaully  helped Presto by chanting a spell from his hat [Presto Spells Diasater]. Two of the Unicorns Natural enemies are the Wizard kaleek who nearly succeded in draining the magical lifeforce from the Realms Unicorns {Such as Uni} leaving them weak [Valley of the Unicorns] and Vengers Orcs; twice poor Uni is captured by Orcs who nearly succeded in turning Uni into a stew [Presto Spells Disaster] and a desert! [In search of the Dungeonmaster]. In a connuntty error Uni is shown going with the kids to the "Real World" [Beauty and the Bogbeast]; three epsiodes make it clear however that as a semi magical creature Uni must be left behind in the Realm as she would not be able to survive in the "Real World" ["The eye of the Beholder"; "Day of the Dungenmaster" "The Box"]

The Dungeons and Dragons series  ran from 1983-1985 for 27 episodes {season 1 13 ep; season 2 8 ep; Season 3 6 ep]  A never made 28th episode [Requiem] shows the Kids reedeming Venger from evil and had a added cliffhanger in which the kids have a choice of going home {if the series had been canceled] or of combatting evil [if a 4th season had been introduced; according to a website on the series if a 4th season had been made the Kids would have left the Realm but would not have 'gotten home! They would have ended up in a different Realm led by a female dungeonmaster']. However the actors produced a radio version of the script which is shown with a Portugesse comic book version on Youtube.

In "Cave of the Faire Dragons" after the kids theve lost another chance to go home, The last words of the series are spoken by Dungeonmaster: You are correct, Cheavlier. You are closer to home, than you think. For home is a reflection of the heart. A reflection you are beginning to understand"
